Thought for the day - 2026

6 May 2026

How about the current President of the U.S.A. abusing the power of position as a would-be despot who made a public display during his first term of being dazzled with Kim Jong Un as a successful dictator whose tutelage he enjoyed?

Of course in Un's case he inherited an already established dictatorship and was raised to be the next dictator.

It appears some would-be dictator level one advice may have been offered by Un  during the first term of the current president, now in his second term:

1) Take as many illegal actions as possible from the start, a blitz of them, so that it is an overwhelming challenge for Congress to deal with them all at the same time.

 2) If/when there are not immediate and continuing concentrated effective efforts to stop the relentless actions (the demands of which interferes with all ongoing daily scheduled cyclical work already underway) then you are likely to get away with incrementally moving toward an actual dictatorship of your own making.

How does this not emphasize with clarity that we, the people, are empowered to self-govern through democratic process in our rule-of-law Constitutional Republic.  However, there  are systemic issues in government that have been undermining our collective ability to effectively self-govern.  Those are foundational issues within our Legislative branch it is our responsibility to address.

Advised Foundational Starters for our Legislative Branch:
Campaign Financing Reform (results also in need political party reform)
Congressional Term Limits (limits compromising by unethical lobbies)
One issue - One bill (no more pork barrel legislating)
Precise Language in Every Bill (prevents loopholes that lead to corruption)

These are required so that future legislation and whatever revisions are needed can be achieved.  Getting started has the potential to stop the spiraling into despotic dictatorial abuse by untrustworthy people in government who want to disregard process and laws.
